Our journey in France

Our very first walk in France today from Calais to Guines, a mere 17kms! It was frightfully cold and it rained but the sun came out at intervals. We can see a weather pattern building up. Tomorrow we are expecting 3 degrees at 7.00 am and minus one degree at the same time on Thursday!.......and we left most of our warm clothes back home to be shipped out when we reach Switzerland! Back to the drawing board. Walking today was mainly along canals, a few kms on fairly dangerous roads and a very pleasant last four kms into Guines along a lovely purpose built path. After some lunch and the odd beer or two we adjourned to our lodging for tonight, a campsite, where we have managed to get special treatment as a Francígena Pilgrim. Discounted (cheap) price for a large cabin. All is well.
