Tromello to Gropello Cairoli. - 14kms

Today, Fathers Day, we decided to take it easy and  did a "short" 14kms only.  Once again the path took us through some rice and cornfields.  The weather took a turn for the better and was cooler certainly in the morning whilst we were walking.  Around 25C.  with a nice cool wind blowing.  Our first stop was the town of Garlasco, where we enjoyed a leisurely cup of coffee.  The town has a nice square and several churches.  During this walk in Italy we have been astonished to find huge churches in fairly small villages and sometimes even more than one church in the same village.

After Garlasco, the ricefields continued as did the cornfields but this time we walked along a fairly large canal which made it cooler.  In Gropello Cairoli we found two churches both with beautiful frescoes inside.  After a nice lunch in a local taverna we are now relaxing in our hotel.  Tomorrow we have about 18kms to Pavia.  We hope to reach there by midday so that we can explore it a bit before continuing our journey the following day.

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there.  Our children remembered and both were in touch.  Hope yours do too!
