Santa Cristina to Orio Litto - 17kms

Easy walk today through several villages where we were able to stop for coffee. Some of the morning spent walking on paths between rice fields, although these appear to be dying out.

A fair amount of walking on minor roads leading through small but interesting villages, including Chignoli Po where there is a beautiful neo-medieval castle . At one point we crossed the River Lambro. Tomorrow we will cross the river Po . The well known ferryman Danilo Parisi will take us over. So far there are seven of us booked to cross. Today we were on the trail at different times with Tomas (Germany), Michael and Els (Netherlands), Jöerg (Germany) and Carina (Brazil). Our thanks to Carina who has made a generous donation to our chosen charity, NDCS National Deaf Children's Society.

Tonight we sleep in a beautiful pilgrims hostel in Orio Litto, the Hospitium Pellegrini nel grangio medievale di Cascina San Pietro.
