13th May Clairvaux to Chateauvillain 20 kms
Today we enjoyed lovely weather. The path led through quiet country roads and fantastic scenery everywhere. Lideke joined us or a while and then we sped off only to join up again later in the day. We raced to Chateavillain to try to get there before impending storms. We got in just as the heavens opened up! We spent the night in an apartment set up for pilgrims which sadly was not very clean but was really the only spot available to us in town. The plus point - it was free! When the rain stopped we managed to visit the town which has medieval remains including six towers, only one of two lavoirs (public communal clothes washing areas) in France with floating floors, and the second biggest dovecote in France, housing 3000pigeons! Tomorrow we head for Saint Loup sur Aujon.
