Cussey sur L'Ognon - Besançon 21kms
Another fairly relaxed walk. First through minor country roads and paths, then through dense woodland which was very muddy underfoot at times. It was here that we heard gunfire. It was obvious there was a shooting club nearby and the sounds seemed uncomfortably close. To be on the safe side I kept shouting "careful, we are coming your way"! I'm sure we were nowhere near their shooting area and if they heard us they must have had a good laugh at our expense.
We got slightly lost at all be point as our guid book led us astray. Luckily we met Eric, who soon had us going in the right direction. At one point we stopped for a breather and were passed by Peter and Joanna who had been following closely behind.
The entry to Besançon was about 5 kms long and extremely tiring and hot! We left our rucksacks in our apartment and carried on to the Cathedral (another 1.5kms) to get our Credential stamped. Then we went to have lunch - everything was closed! We had to wait until 5:30pm to have some lunch/very early dinner, a good shower and bed!
ive just tried to post some photos but the connection is too weak.
